Ever since we bought the house the water pressure seems too low. If we turn on more than one faucet the pressure lowers to a gradual stream. Can this be fixed?
Galvanized pipes are often to blame for slow moving water. Over time they become rusted inside and that rust accumulates to the point where the water can no longer flow as it should. This is when it is time to change them out with modern-day piping that doesn't rust inside. Call us today and we can get you on the path to normal water flow in your home again.
Whenever taking a shower the water temperature changes significantly if someone else flushes the toilet. Is there anything that can be done to correct this?
Since the government required pressure balanced valves in new homes in the early 1990's this prevents this pressure change from occurring. However, in older homes this is simply not the case but can be fixed by having a tempura valve installed. This can be done with a minimal amount of work. If you give us a phone call we will come out and give you solutions and an estimate for fixing this.
Help! When someone uses the plumbing inside the upstairs in our house, all of the waste water is coming up in the downstairs bathtub. What's causing this?
Whenever pipes are draining into other areas other than where they are supposed to then you most likely have a stopped up sewer line. We can come out and clean out the sewer line and can record a video of the inside of your sewer lines to try and target the problem. These kinds of blockages reoccur because there are hair-like roots growing into the sewer line and the pipes have begun separating. If you give us a phone call we'll go out to your property give you a quote for fixing it.
This month my water bill went through the roof! What could be the cause?
Usually a high water bill is because of a leaky water line. Unless this was the month you filled your pool or left the water running one day and forgot about it through to the afternoon when you came home from work. If it is in reality a water service line then we recommend changing over repairing. This will keep it from reoccurring in the future. Give us a phone call and we'll come out and inspect and give you our opinion.
My friends let me know that my old toilets flush much better than their newer ones. However, I know they look like antiques and would like to replace them. Are there any brands you recommend?

I have heard negative things about polybutylene pipe. Is there a way to tell if it is in my home's plumbing?
Polybutylene pipe was used in homes built in the early 1980's to the mid 1990's. It was used mainly in the main service lines and has now been used on the inside of homes also. The way you can see if you have it in your yard is that you simply would have to dig a hole at the water meter or at the front of your house. You will be searching for a light blue or gray plastic pipe. If you are checking inside of your house you can look above the hot water heater where the pipes are connected. Where can I locate the main water shut off for my home?
There are lots of places it may be located. If you have your own personal water meter and are not on a community water plan you'll be able to shut the water off at the water meter using a meter key. If you have a basement or even a crawl space then the water line might be entering the house on the front wall and then go up in to the ceiling. If you've got a cement slab foundation then the water shut off valve is generally near the water heater in the house or garage. You may also check in the laundry room. It is good to know where it's located in case of a plumbing emergency. So locate it ahead of time and you will be glad you did.
